Don't Be Alarmed, I.D. Required

As of June 23, 2008, your REALTOR® will have to ask for identification, as in picture I.D. In June 2007, the federal government approved amendments to regulations under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering)and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA). The amendments, which come into effect on June 23, 2008, are designed to broaden the scope of record keeping and reporting requirements. This means that real estate salespersons and brokers will have new obligations under the PCMLTFA.

Requirements as of June 23, 2008 will include a receipt of funds record for all transactions regardless of the amount of funds received (unless funds are received from a financial entity or public body). In addition, a client identification record will be required to be completed with respect to every purchase and sale regardless of the existence of a cash deposit. Salespersons and brokers will be required to verify and record the identification of each client involved in a particular sale.

Feature Stories

"Winnipeg-an oasis in the prairies of Canada. A city that stands alone....miles away from any other metropolis. Maps show a perimeter highway that encircles the area. Our life defines community.

Winnipeg is a multi- racial city, whose diverse residents had to make their way in isolation.Currently Aboriginal peoples now have a growing stake in urban living,-as do the many immigrants who arrive here yearly.
Both learning to be a part of urban society. Tolerance proves to be a major trait.

Winnipegs Cultural strength, however is its single greatest power.
Especially in the Arts. in sports,as well as vibrant Community activity.
Nationality pockets exist everywhere, but come together to produce a balanced and giving temperment.

Isolation, despite our technological world, creates startling individuals...some who acheive their goals away from Winnipeg; others who find their peace in it.

The enduring characteristic of this city....to the visitor is exemplified by open sincere friendship..the desire to make community function in our unique atmosphere .
The volunteer force that exists in every segment of our society is overwhelming.
"The Buck Stops Here"...a characteristic of larger cities is overshadowed by the many who want to give back. This city cares about people.

Winnipeg too is a spiritual city ln many aspects. Despite the fact sunday morning is often relaxation time...certainly youth practice time.....Family values endure between generations. Many try to keep a hand in both. It is a continuous struggle, but relationship wins.

Winnipeg's isolation, thus produces very strong traits. A recent newspaper quote from the Winnipeg Foundation..."We have the highest generosity factor per capita in Canada". Community is the key to this city, and we are proud of it. "

"To someone who spent 20 years dwelling above the Arctic Circle, the publicity that was rife regards Winnipeg's arduous winters came to naught. The much touted rigours of a city in thrall to an icy grip has never, in my 18 years of living there, borne out the negative press and adverse publicity. Hostile arctic air combined with sweet prairie air brings about a therapeutic amalgam that should be bottled and retailed at one guinea per litre. A prodigiously treed city-spacious thorough fare's-gracious turn of the century buildings. A population that deservedly qualifies vehicle license plates boastin' "Friendly Manitoba". By listing of Pro's & Cons, For's & Against's, Plus's & Minus's-Winnipeg subscribes to the former. Within a one hour drive to, as quoted in Travel Mag "Condemast", one of the ten best inland beaches in the world-namely, Grandly Beach, on Lake Winnipeg."
