Programs and Financial Assistance
Financial assistance takes the form of forgivable loans or non-repayable contributions, and can be used to fund repairs, renovations, accessibility modifications, the creation of low-income rental units, and home adaptations, etc. Programs are offered provincially, and nationally.

Affordable Housing Programs
Provides assistance to private entrepreneurs, private non-profit corporations, and co-operatives for the construction, acquisition & rehabilitation, conversion and operation of rental housing projects.
Energy Efficiency Retrofit Program for Low-Income Households
The program offered by the Department of Social Development in partnership with Efficiency New Brunswick provides financial assistance to improve the energy efficiency of housing occupied by low income households.
Home Completion Loan Program
Provides financial assisance to low and modest income families to help them complete their partically constructed homes.
Home Ownership Program
The program offered by the Department of Social Development provide financial assistance to homeowners and landlords to pay for modifications to make their property more accessible to persons with disabilities.

The program offered by the Department of Social Development provide financial assistance to homeowners and landlords to pay for modifications to make their property more accessible to persons with disabilities.
Federal Programs and Financial Assistance:
ecoENERGY Retrofit
This program provides non-taxable grants to homeowners and owners of rental properties who have carried out renovations that improve the energy efficiency of their existing home or property.
Emergency Repair Program (ERP)
Financial assistance to help low-income households in rural areas, for emergency repairs required for the continued safe occupancy of their home.
First-Time Home Buyers' Tax Credit (HBTC)
This program is designed to assist first-time home buyers with the costs associated with the purchase of a home.
GST/HST New Housing Rebate
This program provides a rebate on the goods and services tax (GST) or the harmonized sales tax (HST) paid on the construction or purchase of newly constructed or substantially renovated homes.
Home Adaptations for Seniors' Independence (HASI)
Financial assistance for minor home adaptations that will help low-income seniors to perform daily activities in their home independently and safely.
Home Buyers' Plan (HBP)
This program allows eligible taxpayers to withdraw funds from their registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) to purchase or build a first home.
Homeowner Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program - Homeowner RRAP
Financial assistance to low-income homeowners for mandatory home repairs that will preserve the quality of affordable housing.
Home Renovation Tax Credit
A non-refundable tax credit for work performed or goods acquired in respect of an elibile dwelling.
Rental Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program - Rental RRAP
Financial assistance to pay for mandatory repairs to self-contained units occupied by low-income tenants.
Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program - RRAP for Conversions
Financial assistance for the creation of affordable housing for low-income households by the conversion of nonresidential properties into affordable, self-contained rental housing units or bed-units.
Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program - RRAP for Persons with Disabilities
Financial assistance to allow homeowners and landlords to pay for modifications to make their property more accessible to persons with disabilities.
Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program - RRAP On-Reserve
Financial assistance to Band Councils and Band members to repair substandard homes to a minimum levelof health and safety and to improve the accessibility of housing for disabled persons.
Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program - Secondary/Garden Suite
Financial assistance for the creation of a Secondary or Garden Suite for a low-income senior or adult with a disability — making it possible for them to live independently in their community, close to family and friends.
Rooming House Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program - Rooming House RRAP
Financial assistance to pay for mandatory repairs to rooming houses occupied by low-income tenants. This program is available in both rural and urban areas.
Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)
Financial assistance to assist in the repair, rehabilitation and improvement of existing shelters, and to assist in the acquisition or construction of new shelters and second-stage housing for victims of family violence.
