Kelowna, British Columbia
Kelowna is a located on the Okanagan Lake in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. It is the seat of the Regional District of the Central Okanagan, and the 3 rd largest metropolitan area in BC (after Vancouver and Victoria). According to Census Canada, 2006 population was 106,707. The name Kelowna derives from a native term for “grizzly bear”.
Communities include: West Kelowna to the west across Okanagan Lake, Lake Country and then Vernon to the north, Peachland to the southwest, and Summerland and Penticton further to the south.
Kelowna is a service driven industry. In summer, boating, golf, hiking and biking are popular, and in winter, both Alpine and Nordic skiing are favourite activities at the nearby Big White and Silver Star ski resorts. With a mild climate, Kelowna is also home to many vineyards around and south of the city; producing wines that have a worldwide reputation.
Due to the climate and vineyard-filled scenery, Kelowna is the least affordable housing market in Canada [1] and 13th in the world. It is classified as "Severely Unaffordable". Salespersons and brokers will be required to verify and record the identification of each client involved in a particular sale.
