Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
Charlottetown is the provincial capital of Prince Edward Island (PEI), and is located in Queens County. Charlottetown was named for Queen Charlotte, spouse of King George III of the United Kingdom. According to 2006 census, the City of Charlottetown had a population of 32,174.
Charlottetown is sometimes referred to as the "Birthplace of Confederation" as it was the site of the 1864 Conference which led to Confederation. The city's history can be revistied at historical sites such as Founders' Hall and Province House.
Charlottetown is home to the University of Prince Edward Island and Holland College- the province's only post-seconary institutions. Charlottetown also boasts many annual community festivals such as Jack Frost Winterfest, and the Festival of Lights. (Pictured here: Charlottetown Boardwalk)

In June 2007, the federal government approved amendments to regulations under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering)and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA). The amendments, which come into effect on June 23, 2008, are designed to broaden the scope of record keeping and reporting requirements. This means that real estate salespersons and brokers will have new obligations under the PCMLTFA.
Requirements as of June 23, 2008 will include a receipt of funds record for all transactions regardless of the amount of funds received (unless funds are received from a financial entity or public body). In addition, a client identification record will be required to be completed with respect to every purchase and sale regardless of the existence of a cash deposit. Salespersons and brokers will be required to verify and record the identification of each client involved in a particular sale.
