The amendments, which come into effect on June 23, 2008, are designed to broaden the scope of record keeping and reporting requirements. Requirements as of June 23, 2008 will include a receipt of funds record for all transactions regardless of the amount of funds received (unless funds are received from a financial entity or public body). In addition, a client identification record will be required to be completed with respect to every purchase and sale regardless of the existence of a cash deposit. Salespersons and brokers will be required to verify and record the identification of each client involved in a particular sale.
